"Nothing is better that a trip up the Maine coast" so they say. We prefer heading north on 95 then east to our farthest destination and meandering down the Maine coast. Yesterday we opted to start our trip via Scarborough to visit the Southern Maine Indoor Flea Market. We've been coming here for years. Don't judge this market by what's inside the front door, you need to travel throughout the building to appreciate it. Vendor displays range from shelves to rooms. Definately a good stop if you have kiddos. It is full of trading cards and video game paraphernalia. There is a vendor who specializes in Tupperware. Boxes of vinyls and shelves of glassware are spread throughout. (Spotted - Blue Willow stemware! But too rich for us at $25 a piece.) There is a booth dedicated to mugs and their history that is fun to peruse. One room has a bookcase of salt and pepper shakers. Check out their Facebook page because there is so much more. Remember this is a Flea Market not a currated shop! Staff is helpful and there is a clean *bathroom onsite. My find here was a small pocket knife with scissors, marked "White Mountain Adventures", brand new, for $3 to replace the one I lost. SM Flea Market is open every day 9 - 5, located on Route 1 (#578 Scarborough, ME). *Adding bathroom status of shops going forward to be helpful.
